In Empower 3; 2489 Control panel is empty, no signal during injection?

  • 2489 shows "yes" for status ok in the node properties
  • 2489 Channel is Active
  • 2489 instrument control panel display empty
  • Monitor Baseline is possible.
  • Ethernet connection.
  • It won't stop after run time is over.
  • No signal is saved for 2489, pressure signal for e2695 is saved.

  • Hi AlineVitkov,

It sounds like the inject/start signal is not being sent from the Separations Module.  If there isn't one already, you could add an inject/start signal cable between the instruments to force a data start signal.

  • Thank you, Mac,

The 2489 is connected to the Separations module via a switch hub, the switch hub also connect the separation module to the PC. Could you please clarify what is a inject/start signal cable between the instruments?

  • This cable is used so that the detector receives the signal from the start of the analysis.

But this does not explain the empty panel in Empower. Have you tried to restart the PC?
  • Hi, a PC and instruments restart would be a good start. If the system has been in use before I would guess the control cable is connected correctly and always good to check tightness.
Whenever the driver control panel will not display you have a communication issue on the Lace. If the node properties list it as OK, then see if you can 'ping' the instrument IP address directly on the Lace. Sometimes the only fix is to do a power off reboot of the instrument.

Make sure the lights are green and the lamp is on in the console. If the driver panel displays as below then right click in it and make sure it is happy in Empower. BTW, what version of E3 are you using? Can also check driver and firmware version. Good luck

Thank you, Roland, but the 2489 is connected to the Separations module using ethernet cables via a switch hub, the switch hub also connect the separation module to the PC. I have re-started the computer, the 2489 and the Separations module multiple times switch their re-start order, and nothing.
  • Thank You JCarter280 I was able to ping all 3 (the hub, the 2489 and the Separations module). Al the setting in the 2489 were correct and the light was on.
  • ISSUE SOLVED, what finally worked was to take the system Offline then bring it back online.

Somehow the communication was corrupted even though, I can ping the instrument, the status ok in the node properties was "yes: and monitor the baseline was possible. Taking the system offline and then bring it back re-established proper communication.
