Difference between Traditional and Apex track ?

Hi everyone,

Could someone explain to me what is the difference on Empower between Traditional and apex track integration ?

Have a nice day :)

  • Hey Emeline,

Apextrack uses a different type of algorithm than the traditional integration type making the software more sensitive to low-level peaks. But not only to that.

See this paper for more insights on it, but there is a lot of information to find on this subject.

  • There is a lot of detail on this as per previous post, but basically Traditional integration detects peaks from the baseline up and cannot detect shoulder or skim peaks whereas Apex Track detects all peaks using the second derivative of the peak and by moving along the tangents of a peak all the way down to the baseline to give an integrated peak. Apex track will detect peaks independent of baseline slope whereas Traditional integration is affected by rising or sloping baselines.
I havent used Traditional for years now, Apex seems to be the default.
