Empower 3.8.0 Virtualization requirements
Hello.
Apologize in advance if I missed this point in the release notes.
Has virtualization support for LAC/E appeared in this Empower version?

Hi Odinsson,
It looks like that is planned to come out in the next version - 3.8.1. Not out yet and I'm afraid I'm unsure when it is scheduled.

It's not listed as supported in E3.8.1, maybe E3.9.? 2025? I have asked for this for some time.
I see no difference between a LAC/E install and and normal C/S (Citrix) install. Tell me, what's different gang? Same code runs just fine for users on Citrix or Windows remote desktop. Why would a lace be any different?
Just don't make the mistake to host your Lace VM's in the 'cloud'. Someone else's data center is never going to have the low latency needed for instrument data collection. That is the whole point of the Lace box, to buffer the data if the network is down. What they really don't admit is how poor the control is with high or spotty latency. Will kill a lace and crash the run. IMHO the fix is to run the VM locally, or at least on site. A closet could host a whole lab work of Lace with good UPS and network switching. Knowing you could run w/o the 'cloud' would be priceless. Someday.. ~ John c
