Sign off
Hi, I was wondering why Empower 3 (we are running FR4 SR3 version) allows a user to type a comment when performing a signoff 1 but it's not considered a valid comment by the system (Signoff 2 can't be done). Can we only use the default strings to do signoff in Empower? Is it related to user privileges?

In your system policies there will be a list of valid SignOff1 reasons ticked, normally Review or Authorship. You can type a comment for the SignOff1 reason no problem, but you must also pick one of these valid reasons before a SignOff2 can be performed. For example, the run gave poor chromatography and you want to capture this in SignOff. First, put in your comment for the reason, something like "run not accepted due to..etc" but be mindful these freeform comments have a character limit of something like 215. Then do another ESign1 picking a valid reason like Review.
When thats done, ESign2 can then be performed. It doesn't matter what order the Esign1 reasons are done (freeform comment followed by valid reason or vice versa) as long as a valid reason is selected before Esign2.
SignOff policies can be altered to suit usage in the System Policies.0
