What's your experience using Copy Preferences functions?

I hear it can be quite buggy as in something copying all preferences, sometimes none, sometimes part (only Run Sample view but not Review view setting).

Are there any guidelines as to make this process more reliable (like making sure both target and source projects have the same CustomFields)?

    Ive only ever had to do this once, when I lost my Quickstart display option and I was getting random bugs and errors when processing runs. I think the best way to do this is to copy preferences from a user who is having no such issues and basing the preferences on a specific project which has all the methods and custom fields you require going forward.

    Does matter if the user to which you are copying the source preferences is currently using Empower? Or would that result in a failed copy?
