Outside Only as Search Order

If I create a custom field such as A.%..AVE(Area) and set the search order to Outside Only, will that populate for samples both in the results sets AND individually processed results? So if there were 10 Result Sets and 100 individually processed results would the software average the peaks of ALL samples labelled as A or only in the 10 Result Sets where samples are labelled as A?

     I may be incorrect as I don't find this function terribly useful in a regulated environment, but I was always under the impression that the outside functions all stopped at the first hit they got.

    I was incorrect. The outside functions will generate a value for any and all matched results that exist in the project.
