QDA Instrument Communication Error

Recently the computer housing the Empower 3 software was subjected to a Windows 10 Update, after which the QDA on the "Run Samples" display shows the message: "Instrument Communication Error." View -> System still recognizes that the QDA is connected, but the Console does not. Any tips how to fix this?

  • Crazy odd issue resolved with our QDa. After the startup/warmup delay make sure the instrument IP address pings from the lace. "UNPLUG" the ethernet to the QDa and count to 10. Really. When you connect reset it and the driver should communicate. ~ Really.

The hard part is teaching the end users how to ping the QDa from the node's desktop... I preferred to just have them call. I never thought to try unplugging the ethernet cable. I did have some luck manually starting loader.exe. That would sometimes "wake them up."
