Hello KayBee
You are currently using Config 9 Lac/e32 units with Empower 1154. You can use Config 9 Lac/e32 units for Empower 2. However, the units may require updates to meet the minimum requirements.
The Empower 2 Feature Release 5 minimum requirements for any Lac/e32 are
Requirements for Empower Personal or client computers, LAC/E modules
Operating System / Hardware: Windows® Vista Business with Service Pack 1 (Personal) or Windows Vista Enterprise with Service Pack 1 (Client) or Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 2
Intel® Pentium® 4, 1.7 GHz CPU: 1 GB
Random access memory (RAM)
Hard disk drive: 8 GB
DVD drive Access to a DVD drive: Required
Monitor: Required
Graphics capability: sVGA video at 1024 × 768 × 16 bit color resolution
Printer Access to a printer: Required
Optional control card: Waters Bus Laboratory Acquisition and Control/
Environment (busLAC/E.) card or 8-port serial card
Application software: Empower software
Microsoft® Internet Explorer® 7.0
Network interface card: Recommended for Personal
Required for secondary PC and client
Once the Lac/e32 module meets the minimum requirements for hardware and software, then Empower 2 can be installed. Empower 1154 will need to be removed before Empower 2 is installed on the module.
You mentioned the restore image. Unfortunately, the restore image CD/DVDs are not cross compatible from one Config Lac/e32 to another. The restore image is specific to each as the hardware and software components are different for each config.
If you would like to consider the Config 13, we can have someone contact you.
I hope this is helpful.

That’s great information. Glad to hear that config9 can be used with E2. I am not sure about this earlier and thought of reimaging to config13. Now I’ll go ahead and install E2 client on these LAC/E boxes. Is Empower compatible with windows XP, SP3?
Thanks,
KayBee
