  • Hello, Michael,

The behavior of the autosampler thermostat is a little different from that of other temperature-controlled modules like the TCC.  This is because the autosampler thermostat is really a part of the autosampler and not a separate module.

Accordingly, the autosampler thermostat will come up to temperature when the autosampler gets its method. However this may not happen until you "start" the Sample Set.  At that point, the autosampler will give the thermostat its set point and wait to make an injection until the thermostat is up to (or down to) temperature.  As a test try this running a short Sample Set; maybe even an Equilibrate line will do it.

  • Hello Dot,

    thank you for your answer.

But it didn´t work. We started a mini-sequence, but no cooling or heating of the thermostat.

    Other ideas?

  • Hello Michael,

    We to confirm the installation.

With a Handheld Controller such as the Instant Pilot, can you verify operation before connecting the system to Empower?

Afterwards connecting to Empower, does the Autosampler show up correctly in the Details column when scanning the system?

    Thank you

  • Hello Dot,

thanx again for your quick reply.

With a Handheld Controller such as the Instant Pilot, can you verify operation before connecting the system to Empower?     Yes, all modules are responding after pushing the "switch on all"-button.Afterwards connecting to Empower, does the Autosampler show up correctly in the Details column when scanning the system?     Yes, in my opinion everything is displayed correctly.

Please correct me, when I misunderstood s.th..

This does the control panel look like after switching the ON-button. HiP-sampler-thermostate is not heating/cooling.

    All other modules are ok.?

When the sequence or instrument method is loaded, the thermostate should be switched on automatically (like the TCC).

Are the boxes checked in the right way for this?

    We hope for help... .

  • Hi Michael,

wer're opreating 6 1100's 3 1200's and 15 1290's out of 101 Instruments under Empower - Agilent ICF. Under any conditions, one has to switch the ALS-Thermostate on and off manually with the Instmodulepanel -> Method in same manner as when used with Agilents Chemstation. As our users report so far this Item, no way to shut down the Inst (including the the Lamp-Off state), and the TCC-Portvalve outletmismatch are most missed.

Anyway Items which concern the ICF have to be adressed to Agilent which is the developer of the ICF, the Instruments and their Firmware aswell as that funny paradigm it may have to maintain instrumentmethods.

  • Hello,

We have duplicated the issue here at Waters HQ. The work around is simply to turn on the thermostat unit by right clicking in the ICF console for the sample manger and selecting: Turn on thermostat. The thermostat will go to the temperature programmed in the current instrument method. You will not have the ability to turn on or off the thermostat within the instrument method itself. I will report the issue as I am not sure if it is the intended function by Agilent or an issue that shows up in the 1290 due to the fact that the thermostat is now fully controlled by the autosampler and has no direct connection to the instrument LAN.

  • Hello,

first of all I want to thank you for your answers and help.

What we really miss is the fact that we can switch on and off the sample thermostat within the instrument method. That´s definitely possible with the 1100s.

Imagine this situation: The sequence will be interrupted by a technical problem or missing vial or something else. The user is realizing this and want to continue the

sequence, is loading the interrupted sample set and is pushing the start button. But unfortunately the user forgot to switch on the thermostat manually. So, one part

of the samples was measured with the right temperature, the other part with the wrong temperature.

We hope that this will be fixed as soon as possible. Either by Waters or Agilent.

  • Demand after four months. Are there any updates to this thermostat problem? Maybe a PCS # or a driver update?

  • Hello,

This concern has been documented within our quality system and is slated to be fixed in the next release of the Driver.

This Driver is scheduled to be released sometime during the 3rd quarter.

    Is this schedule still actual?

  • hello everybody,

still the same question: when is the new version of the ics for the agilent 1290-instruments released?

meanwhile the 3rd quarter is over... ;-)

    thanks for your answers!!!

  • Well ... it was there end of September... and so far as I've seen it is postponed due to end of this year concerning serious probs wiht 3-D dataacquisition. Inbetween it may be feasable to get all concerned instruments up to the latest supported Firmware 6.5.
